Okayama prefectural Seto Minami High School has its unique departments. One of these is “Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources,” and students are learning how to grow rice and many other agricultural products. Last year, we had a Cooking Exchange Program using fresh coriander harvested by the students.
This year, we had a “Rice Planting Exchange Program” and experienced rice planting. High school students were good at teaching, and we enjoyed chatting and planting seven hectares of rice fields. When leaving, they gave us onions as souvenirs. We are planning to continue this kind of exchange programs, such as rice harvesting or another cooking, in coming years.
